Black Lies

courtesy: deviantart.com

You stand beside me like
A bride’s father down the aisle,
When I have my best dress on,
My face lit up so wild.

You walk close by me,
Like a pet that’s truly mine,
When my days are bright,
Like the sky on a moonlit night.

But when my candle blows out,
Darling, where are you?
What nature of darkness is it,
Where there is no trace of you?

But dear, why do you leave,
On such one moonless night?
Or is it so grave, this dark,
It erases you from sight?

As though you never were,
For my clothes reek of despair,
And my face is stained with tears,
Yet why can’t I see you here?

So I travelled back to the day
We walked down that glamorous aisle.
Do you remember the bright lights,
And my brilliant smile?

My hand held my skirt,
Your arms were holding me,
All of a sudden, a raging wind,
Rushed in and broke me free.

For where right next to me,
You felt so live and raw,
I turned 'round in dismay,
For black lies were all I saw.
